About Nailah
Nailah is our brave and enthusiastic character who loves to help. She is kind and excitable, which we can all relate to when it comes to children.
Nailah has an eagerness to learn and her character was created to encourage children to become anything they wish to be without being restricted by stereotypes.
Firefighters were, for a long time mainly labelled and known as ‘Firemen’. The term ‘firewoman’ is rarely heard and used, so we intend to highlight, support and encourage ALL firefighters regardless of their gender.
Nailah’s family always support each other and this is shown through their enthusiasm when encouraging Nailah to learn more and to follow her dreams!
About Divya
Divya is a confident, strong minded character who we believe is breaking stereotypes. We love Divya’s personality, her confidence in asking questions and how she has become a character who is willing to learn – these are qualities we should all embrace and encourage.
How did Divya come to be? Well, it’s because of conversations we’ve had in the past with both friends and family, that it’s crazy to think not many of us have even seen a female plumber in our lives. We know there are female plumbers working hard, but again it brings us back to the notion that being a plumber is usually seen as a “man’s” job! So we decided to back the female plumbers out there by creating our confident character, Divya!
Divya the Plumber highlights the many knowledgeable, skilled and helpful women who are capable and very much do roles that are typically male dominant.

Bought to read to my Reception class. The children enjoyed the book and it sparked lots of creative play. I observed some of the children pretending to be fire fighters using laces for hoses and a big box for their fire engine.
There was as a lovely message in the book, perfectly pitched for the target age. Hopefully there will be more books in the series.

Hey, we are Romana and Sukh
We wanted to tell you a bit about us and why we began this amazing new adventure together.
So, we became friends over 8 years ago when working together at a jewellery store. We got on so well that we did not want to work on different shifts, we would go on lunch at the same time, go shopping together, even serve customers as a team! Two peas in a pod is the perfect saying for us!
Our families and us are always saying we are exactly the same as each other and should have been twins, especially because of our mannerisms and our love for pizza and pasta!! In fact, we have naturally grown so close that we are sisters. So many life changing events happened around the same time for us…passing our driving test, getting married and even having our first born baby girls only 5 weeks apart! A crazy set of coincidences, but pretty cool too.
Over the years, we have moved to different workplaces but our relationship remained the same, close as ever! So now we are mothers to beautiful little monsters who do scare the pants out of us, not because they are monsters but because of the worry and learning that comes with the territory. Safe to say, they are adorable little girls and we are doing pretty well in our own homes with our husbands. We are lucky to have one another for sure.
Okay, so let us jump to the children’s books… we’ve always wanted to start a venture together and the idea of writing children’s books was the best, the one that stood out the most. Whilst being pregnant, the thought of our babies growing up in such a fast moving world frightened us, ‘what will their interests be? What will they be when they’re adults?’ The latter being our foundation for The Growing Up Collection…We want our children to be whatever they want to be, just like every other parent. So, we rattled our brains and began putting our ideas together to create stories which encourage children to bypass the stereotypes and to follow their dreams and ambitions with courage.
As a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent and more, you only want the ultimate best for your little ones, and this is one of our many ways to help achieve this – encouraging and supporting children to dream big!!
We also feel strongly about having characters of colour, and this is something we will continue to create!
